Hi! I'm Christina.I help teens and young adults in North Carolina overcome their self doubt, perfectionism, anxiety and negative experiences, allowing them to embrace and love who they truly are (while still maintaining motivation to meet their goals).
I know how stressful life can be as a teenager and how much sitting and listening teens already do, so I use movement and play in session. We can walk and talk, or find a basketball hoop and move our session there. If we stay in doors, we can break out feelings basketball, or a game of jenga. I integrate this in to an evidence based, scientific approach to behavior change. |
Christina Taylor MA, LCMHC, NCC offers counseling for teens and young adults in Charlotte, NC.
Therapy can be intimidating, you picture yourself laying on a couch spilling your deepest secrets and emotions to an older stranger across from you. I wanted to break that mold. Counseling doesn't have to be just for teens with mental illness. Therapy can help you gain confidence, it can help you adjust to changes in your life, it can help you find your voice, and your purpose and passions in life. I am located in Charlotte, NC and offering virtual therapy sessions to teens and young adults all over North Carolina.
Seeing a counselor doesn't have to look the same for everyone. Teens and young adults may be resistant to therapy because they already sit and listen to an adult talk for the majority of their day, or they believe that an adult does not understand what they are experiencing. My goal is to change the way teens and young adults in Charlotte view seeking help for their stress, anxiousness, or lack of purpose. We can take your therapy session outside, we can integrate different games in to our sessions, or we can use art as a way to explore. I am often told by teenagers and college students that I work with that I am different, that I actually get what they are going through, how hard it is for them. My practice allows me to use that connection with teens and young adults to foster an environment for growth, learning, and confidence.
After years of working with teens and college students in a variety of settings, I saw there was a need for alternative mental health and wellness options in our community. While I would love to end the stigma of seeking help for mental health all together, I saw Raising Wellness as an opportunity to make small change in our Charlotte community.
