Summer camp for middle school girls in Charlotte, NC
Middle school is an extremely difficult time, especially for girls. They are beginning to experience so many changes - in their bodies, and in their relationships. They may begin losing some of the confidence and spunk they once had. Research has proven that exercise and sports helps support young girls confidence and self-esteem. The goal of Strength & Self Compassion, a week long camp for middle school girls in Charlotte, NC, is to teach middle school girls the benefits of regular exercise, the proper technique of basic strength movements, how to format a simple workout, and educate them on appropriate nutrition for their age and activity level ( hint, not a diet, and not cutting out any food groups!) This will all be done through active play, while also incorporating self-compassion in to our lessons. We want to eliminate self-doubt, anxiety over entering a gym or weight room, and change the way we talk about food and fueling our bodies!

About the Counselor
Hi! My name is Christina (Tina) Taylor and I am an Athletic Trainer and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I have worked as an Athletic Trainer and a teacher at Charlotte Country Day School for the last 8 years. I am passionate about providing a safe space for girls to feel comfortable in their bodies and to gain experience with different variety of exercise options. As a life long athlete, I wish I had someone to guide me through learning proper techniques in a space I felt comfortable, instead of hiding in the back hoping boys weren't judging me. I am extremely excited to offer this opportunity within my community!
